The growing season for Anderson’s Conn Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 started out with earlier bud break leading to an exceptional fruit-set and crop. The start of the season was cooler than previous years, a factor that continued into July and August. Which meant longer hang-times for grapes across the Napa Valley. From mid-August to September, heat spells came and went, but for the most part, temperatures hovered in the mid-80s to 90s across the valley. Hence translating to slow ripening, while acids remained firmly in check. While some of the most natural acid levels I’ve seen in years,” one reputable 100-point winemaker told us at this year’s Auction Napa Valley. In October, late-season rains refreshed vineyards, but most had harvested their Cabernet by then.

Founder & Winemaker Todd Anderson
After graduating from the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA with a degree in Geology Todd went to work for a small geophysical firm that was on the cutting edge of technology for seismic oil and gas exploration. Todd soon realized the corporate world was not for him. Although he loved the industry he was in, he continually had thoughts of the outdoors and getting back in touch with the soil. These thoughts, along with the mention from his parents of starting a “small vineyard”, are what led to the creation of Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards.
