Trentadue La Storia Cabernet Alexander Valley | Special wine from a special winery!
Trentadue La Storia Cabernet Alexander Valley is a deep, dark ruby. Bursting with black fruits, cocoa, and toasted vanilla notes, with a hint of anise and herbs. Dense and mouth-filling, with a lively freshness and acidity that gives the wine an energetic lift. Finishes with cocoa dust and supple, silky tannins.
Trentadue La Storia Cabernet Alexander Valley is an age-worthy wine, showing abundant varietal aromas and flavors of blueberry, blackberry, and black licorice, with a hint of herbs and ripe olives. The predominantly French oak aging contributes aromas of vanilla, cocoa dust, and slight toast. The mouthfeel is medium dense, fresh and juicy with balanced acidity and very soft tannins for a young wine.

La Storia Cabernet and the Deal
This past fall, we visited Trentadue’s beautiful winery in Geyserville. The surprise of the visit? Their “La Storia” Cabernet Sauvignon, which hails from the same spiritual Alexander Valley Cabernet grounds precious to Silver Oak and Jordan Winery. And we’ve enjoyed those Cabernets for as long as we can remember. This Trentadue La Storia Cabernet Alexander Valley comes primarily from the beautiful 1.5-acre La Storia vineyard. A Sonoma County top-flight Cabernet hotbed. In the excellent 2015 vintage, yields were down, which resulted in fruit of elevated quality and concentration. This La Storia is supple and decadent, brimming with dark-berry flavors and rich oak integrations with nuanced spice.
At its release price of $38 this is a fantastic buy — but at our price of $21.99 per bottle, it is an Alexander Valley Cabernet of mind-boggling quality. We’d recommend socking away one case to hold as this develops terrific complexity, and one case for early drinking.

Trentadue’s “La Storia” is one of those brands: It’s easy to find great things to say about them, but, because of their steadfast consistency, it’s getting hard to find brand new great things to say about them. Miro Tcholakov has been turning out blockbuster wines at Trentadue for nearly two decades. Those roots now run six decades deep in Sonoma County, and the wines have been stocking the cellars of Wine Access clients for years.
La Storia farms only ten acres of Cabernet, which makes this a relatively small bottling. Production size was capped even more by 2015’s famously low yields. Fortunately, that excellent vintage also brought even ripening, bright fruit and firm acidity to a Cabernet that may be “new” to Wine Access clients, but will be intimately familiar with the way it over-delivers.
