Rubissow Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 | 100 Point Winemaker Cult Cab
Rubissow Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 presents a deep ruby-garnet hue with a magenta rim. White flowers meld with crushed blackberries and cola nut on the nose. Cassis, ripe black plum and blackberries are the primary fruit component on entry. Fine-grain texture and subtle mineral grip suggest a well-integrated Cabernet. Fragrant coffee and chocolate emerge with aeration. Amazingly accessible with ripe tannins and an energetic lift on the finish. Today’s 2016 ranks among the greatest vintages to come off of this estate. Hence testifying to the enduring legacy of André Tchelistcheff, who acted as consultant and guide when Rubissow’s hillsides were planted in 1983.
More Sensational Cellar Selections
Winery | Rubissow Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is packed with dark black cherry, blackberry pie, and warm spice flavors. While finishing with a soft, sweet mocha note. Aromatics of cherry, vanilla, cocoa, and toast prevail, with captivating floral and herb notes. Most of all, Winemaker Timothy Milos used his precise, yet intuitive blending skills to balance every element of this robust wine. Hence giving it a beautiful sense of place and a powerful Mt. Veeder elegance.
Cult Wine for Cabernet Collectors
So Cabernet collectors, take notice. 100-point winemaker Tim Milos (Opus One, Stag’s Leap, Cliff Lede) has crafted a staggering mountain Napa Cabernet. First, Tim’s Rubissow Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 stands shoulder to shoulder with the appellation’s top wines for almost half the cost. Single-vineyard Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon like this rarely sells for less than $100. The Rubissow Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is ripe and richly textured, elegant and full of class. Hence, walking the line between Mount Veeder opulence and Pauillac refinement.
Winemaker Timothy Milos
A sixth-generation Bay Area native, Timothy grew up exploring the hills of rural West Marin. Timothy pursued Plant Pathology studies at New York’s Cornell University. While in New York, Timothy discovered the winemaking going on in the Finger Lakes area. Here, at last, he found an intersection for his passions — science, history, and art. Timothy has made wine ever since. In 1997, he began working his way up the Napa Valley wine ladder.
First starting out as a research enologist at Opus One. Then moving on to Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, and eventually directing winemaking at Cliff Lede, and the former S. Anderson. “My intention is to work with the Rubissow vineyard to create modern wines of complexity and finesse that reflect the unique land they come from,” says Timothy. It is a great pleasure to work with a family and team who has such a deep respect for the land. And for the crafts of winegrowing and winemaking. Also for the tradition of excellence created by their forebears.”
