Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 | Dark Sumptuous Beauty
Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 presents Inky purple. Knockout aromas of black raspberry, plum, spice, and cigar. Massively concentrated on the attack, but perfectly light on its feet. While expansive in the mid-palate with an opulent mix of black-fruit preserves splashed with herbs, finishing with opulent yet sturdy tannins. Drink now for its youthful hedonism and forget the rest of this masterful 2013 effort for 15-20 years.

94AG Vinous | A dark, sumptuous beauty, Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 captures the pedigree of the year. As well as the personality of this site on the eastern hills of Oakville. Dark cherry, mocha, spice, licorice, and savory herbs blossom in this beautifully textured, super-expressive Cabernet Sauvignon.
Oakville Estates | Vineyard “Magic Road”
The blue-chip estates that dot the steep slopes of Oakville’s “Magic Road” don’t need to call attention to themselves. Notably, Dalla Valle, Phelps’ Backus Vineyard, Peter Michael’s Oakville Vineyard …formerly Showket. And of course David Ramey’s Pedregal. Finally, at 1,400 feet elevation, high above the fog line, sits one of the most prized properties in Napa Valley; the 350-acre Oakville Ranch. So, in 2013, winemaker Anne Vawter produced her biggest, most age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon ever to come off the rocky terraces of Oakville Ranch. Hence, Antonio Galloni called it a “dark, sumptuous beauty” and rated it 94 points.
Winemaker Anne Vawter | Heidi Barrett Protege
So, Anne Vawter’s fascination with wine began in her teens in Walla Walla, Washington. As her father, Bruce McKendry, was discovering new wines in the then-new winegrowing area, he also discovered that Anne, his youngest daughter, was curious about wine. Later, combining her interest in winegrowing and her love of nature from growing up on a dairy farm, Anne set her sights on becoming a winemaker and viticulturist
While, in 2002, she graduated with a B.S. in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California, Davis. And then worked for wineries in Washington, Napa Valley, and Chile. She also spent four years with Paradigm Winery under the tutelage of Heidi Barrett. Anne says that when she was considering moving on from Paradigm Winery, she asked Heidi for her opinion about pursuing the consulting track and felt that Heidi was very encouraging and supportive.
