La Spinetta | All about The Grapes
90% of the work we do at La Spinetta is in the vineyards, with just 10% in the cellar. We make wine from indigenous grapes. We believe in grape origin, planting, growing and cultivating only indigenous grape varieties.
Piedmont is particularly famous for its red grapes. Including Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto, as well as the white grape Moscato, indigenous varieties that have a long history in our region. Yet we prefer to make wines that are typical of Piedmont. Hence characteristic of the terrain in which the grapes are cultivated. As a result, reflecting a taste that is indisputably identifiable with their land of origin.

“Giorgio Rivetti, the man who never sleeps, is at it again! His quest to make great wine has taken him from Piedmont to Tuscany, into the world of sparkling wines and aperitivos, and ROSATO. The La Spinetta Il Rosé di Casanova 2017 is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile. The six-hectare vineyard sits at about 300 meters above sea level and enjoys the southern exposure. While bursts of red fruit and citrus make this a summer sipper best paired with food or conversation.”
