Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds 2015 | Massively concentrated Rhone-style Blend
Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds 2015 displays a deep ruby-purple color. Warm and inviting nose. With intensely ripe black raspberry and black cherry fruits framed by cracked peppercorn, roasted earth, and leather. Plus a chewy palate full of ripe and preserved fruits, with a subtle stoniness to the tannins, and supple texture. Drink now-2024.
91JD | The Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds 2015 is a blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah raised in tank. While it offers gorgeous black fruits, olive, pepper, and hints of game. Plus a sexy, ripe, medium to a full-bodied package. It made me want to pour a full glass.
Wine Spectator | A lovely core of silky-textured warm plum sauce glides through, laced with light violet and anise notes. Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds 2015 is backed by a subtle minerality that adds length.
2015 Rhone Vintage of a Lifetime
The Famille Perrin Vinsobres Les Cornuds 2015, a 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, brilliantly showcases the spicy, savory sophistication of Syrah. While the Grenache lends mouth-filling ripe texture and thick body. The fruit is grown on steep terraces and hills of the estate-owned Les Cornuds vineyard at a height of 984 feet. And infusing grapes with high-altitude freshness and verve. 2015—a vintage hailed by local experts like Marcel Guigal as the best vintage of a lifetime.
Given the vintage’s extraordinary conditions, the producer’s historic pedigree, and the price-tag, this is a contender for the best-buy of Southern Rhône.
The Perrin Family
Since 1909, the Perrin family has been operating Château de Beaucastel. A name that is known by nearly every serious wine collector. While arguably the greatest Châteauneuf-du-Pape producer, with six 100-point scores from Robert Parker. Along with Bordeaux’s First Growths and the Côte de Nuit’s Grand Crus, Beaucastel’s legendary cuvees like Hommage à Jacques Perrin are some of France’s most sought-after collectibles. Hence, thanks to the Perrin family’s precious holdings of Mistral-swept, old-vine Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre.
But with its deep roots in the region, the Perrins—who “routinely produce long-lived classics that are among the finest in the world” says Robert Parker—also knows how to turn out stunning values from up-and-coming appellations. While one such AOC is Vinsobres, at the northern tip of Southern Rhône. It’s an area particularly near to the heart of Syrah devotees. Most of all the cooler climate and elevation there produce a rare level of finesse in the grape that is often lost in warmer climes.
