This Xavier Vignon Arcane XV Diable 2015 is brilliant. Deepest ruby in hue. Explosive on the nose, with gorgeous black fruit aromatics, laced with sweet herbes-de-Provence. The attack is true for this spectacular harvest – rich, concentrated and wild berry primary fruits. Despite the extreme ripeness of the vintage, the Mourvèdre remains high-toned and light on its feet, velour-like in texture. This is definitely a keeper and is drinking beautifully right now.

Wine Access: There are two slightly eccentric wines from this estate that merit serious attention. The sensational Xavier Vignon Arcane XV Diable 2015 had a three-week maceration. In addition, t is almost 100% Mourvèdre from a parcel close to Vinsobres. Hence, Xavier prefers to get as much extraction as possible before alcoholic fermentation. Furthermore, the wine was aged mostly in small oak tanks and concrete. Blueberries, blackberries, peppery herbs, and spice all flow from this layered, full-bodied beauty that has awesome purity, integrated acidity and plenty of structure. Give bottles 2-3 years and drink over the following 10-15 years.

About the 2015 Southern Rhone
