Lewis Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 | #1 Wine of the Year
Lewis’ 2015 Cab sold out in a flash, and this cuvée they often liken to an Aston-Martin V-12 is a muscular follow-up. It has all the freshness and vivacity of 2016, as well as Lewis’ trademark deep black fruit and caffé mocha spice. While a huge score is an inevitability; it wasn’t an accident either that the 2014 vintage was named Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of The Year in 2016. More Sensational Cellar Selections
Juicy, ripe and fruitful our Lewis Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 captures the kitchen aromas of home jam-making. Creamy vanilla and wood spice together with black plum, truffle and earth give the nose delectable character. Flush with fruit, dusky, dense and polished the wine finishes with cushy, dark-chocolate tannins.
Lewis Style
“Lewis’ style is a supersized, pedal-to-the-metal, open-throttle expression of flavor. Those characteristics run throughout the winery’s lineup…Few wineries perform as consistently as Lewis.” – Wine Spectator Randy Lewis spent a 23-year career pushing personal and mechanical limits as a race car driver, beginning as a Formula 3 driver in Europe. That’s where he fell in love with fine wine. He founded Lewis Cellars in 1992, and today he and his winemaker Josh Widaman, formerly of Pahlmeyer, are making the best wines in the history of the estate. In short, these are some of the most popular Napa Valley wines we offer. They’re unrestrained, voluptuous wines that consistently score in the mid-to-high 90s. The feedback we get from you is enthusiastic across the board.
Winemaker Josh Widaman
With a B.S. in Viticulture & Enology from UC Davis, Josh brings 15 years of winemaking experience to Lewis, where he is a large and ever-smiling presence.
Josh came from Pahlmeyer where he had been the winemaker. His previous experience includes 4 years as assistant winemaker at Chimney Rock Winery and multiple roles at Stags’ Leap Winery, Gloria Ferrer, and Viña Tarapaca in Chile.
When he’s not in vineyards or at the winery Josh enjoys cycling, cooking and drinking wine with family and friends.
