Howell Mountain’s Peak Value
This mountaintop terroir lends grapevines an entirely different life than those that grow comfortably in the fertile soils of the Valley floor. The vines’ struggle yields some of the valley’s most cherished, long-lived, prestigious, and expensive wines. Brooding mountain-bred aromas of black and blue fruit and licorice. While announcing a voluptuous palate dominated by blackberry compote, cassis, and black olive tapenade. Seasoned with intertwining cedar and vanilla spice and structured by well-integrated tannins, it’s a Cabernet dream—one that just got better when our medium-rare ribeyes hit the table.

The unique terroir of the Howell Mountain produces wines that are typically very powerful and intense in structure. So, the grapes for our signature Kukeri Cabernet Howell Mountain 2018 comes from one of the highest elevated vineyards on Howell Mountain. The mountain’s well-drained and rocky volcanic soils and moderate climate is perfect for growing full-bodied and concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon. A touch of Malbec, Merlot, Petite Verdot, and Cabernet Franc balance the rich dark fruit and massive tannins of our 2018 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, adding vibrancy to its lush mouthfeel and lingering dry finish and balanced acidity.
