Domane Wachau Federspiel Terrassen Gruner Veltliner 2016 is bright yellow-green in color. While this wine offers distinctive aromas of golden delicious apple, white pepper, hints of exotic fruits, balanced with delicate herbal notes. Most of all, it is a traditional example of Gruner Veltliner with its medium-body crisp acidity, juicy fruits and white spice on the finish. Domäne Wachau
The Domäne Wachau is situated in the heart of the Wachau Valley, one of Europe’s oldest cultural landscapes. While led by winery director and Master of Wine Roman Horvath and winemaker Heinz Frischengruber. In addition, Domäne Wachau counts among the leading wine producers in Austria. And the winery is based in the picturesque medieval town of Dürnstein.
The region offers perfect conditions and unique terroir for growing outstanding wines. While an extremely cool, marginal climate imbues elegance and finesse. Hence, steeply terraced hillside vineyards are the foundation for extremely low yields that guarantee structure and complexity.
Winemaker Heinz Frischengruber
First of all, Heinz Frischengruber and his team vinify the handpicked grapes with as little intervention as possible. As a result, a unique range of authentic and elegant wines reflect the diversity of the Wachau terroir, grape varieties, and the famous Wachau single-vineyards.
So, after years of apprenticeship in the international wine world, Heinz Frischengruber returned to his origins in the Wachau. He is a graduate of the Viniculture College Klosterneuburg. And studied international wine marketing at the college in Eisenstadt and oenology at the reputed University of Geisenheim.
Most notably, Heinz’ key contributions to the success of Domäne Wachau are the successful development of a quality improvement programme in the vineyards. In addition, a focus on preserving the unique terroir character of the wines. Furthermore, Heinz was awarded as the Vintner Newcomer of the Year in 2007. And is also the managing director of the Austrian Oenology and Wine Research.
