Delightful & Strange Reserve 2015 presents deep, vibrant, purple color. Start with generous aromas of ripe blackberry, currant, plum, and pomegranate. Next add complex hints of violets, tobacco, cocoa powder, toast, and Madagascar vanilla. Equally powerful and complex. Plus a mouthful of black cherry and mocha framed by densely structured tannins. Delightful & Strange – The story
More than a few wineries in Napa produced world-class fruit in 2015. However due to the short harvest, many realized that yields were so low it wouldn’t be profitable to bottle one or more of their tasting-room-only, rich, decadent reds. Hence, our Delightful & Strange label was started, in part, to find such wines in an effort to deliver extreme value to you.

There is more that can’t be said about this wine that can be. To pursue such unbelievable opportunities in wine is to promise to keep your mouth shut. While most cult Napa wineries sell fruit or wine to other brands, to protect their equity it is always done in strict secrecy. Even the founder of Delightful & Strange, a local Master of Wine, can no longer be mentioned by name. He has since landed his dream job at an iconic Napa winery, agreeing only to use his name to promote their wine.

Our relationships with growers and vintners in the valley led us recently to two lots from Saint Helena and Oakville. In years when these wines are bottled, they fetch between $135 and $200 each at the winery. In our possession, blended together, they are something beautiful to behold in this 2015 Delightful & Strange The Reserve Proprietary Red, which after some additional bottle age is ready to enjoy—loaded with generous blackberry, pomegranate, cocoa, and toast, wrapped in a firmly tannic shell and beautifully balanced. Worthy of the lofty price tag of their origin, but available to you now at just $40 per bottle.
