BV Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 | Iconic Red-Fruited Overperformer
Since 1900 Beaulieu Vineyards has been the icon of Rutherford. The long-lived and world-famous Georges de Latour, sourced from the renowned BV1 and BV2 benchland vineyards, is a stalwart of collectors cellars. This BV Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 is of course sourced from the same vineyards. As a result, giving a more accessible Rutherford experience.
Amazing Red Gems under $35
92WS | BV Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 presents red-fruited Cabernet that’s juicy and ripe. While buoyed by the elegance of benchland tannins. Those tannins feel brisk, with rocky mineral edges and softer hints of leather. Hence, girding the flavors, holding them tight. Yet, even as a beam of freshness shoots through the middle of the wine, brightening the formal structure.

91JS | A soft and juicy red with blackberry and black-olive character. Dark chocolate, too. Some green olives. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink or hold.
Historic BV Ranch Vineyards
We selected 80 percent of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for this wine from vineyard blocks in our historic BV Ranches No. 1, No. 2 and No.10, which provided the concentrated dark-fruit character and firm structure that we desired. These vineyards, located on the Rutherford Bench, have alluvial fan soils—composed of gravel, sand, and loam—that allow the vines to root deeply and develop complex minerality in the grapes. The balance came from highly regarded growers whom we have worked closely with us for many years.
Winemaker Jeffrey Stambor | Andre Tchelistcheff Protege
I started at Beaulieu in 1989 as Viticulturist / Enologist acting as a link between the historic Rutherford estate vineyards/ diverse grower properties, and the winery. During the fall of 1990, the winery was celebrating the 50th anniversary release of Georges de Latour and I was introduced to one of the most influential winemakers of the 20th century – Andre Tchelistcheff. Andre had returned to Beaulieu to lead a tasting of the historic wines and lucky for me continued as a consultant until his death in 1994. An amazing opportunity for a young impressionable winemaker! Learning from a visionary and pioneer continues to shape my winemaking philosophy.
