Bravante Trio Howell Mountain 2014 | Massively concentrated mountain Cabernet
Bravante Trio Howell Mountain 2014 pours a medium ruby hue. Flowery nose with hints of soy and pepper. While juicy black cherry fruit and cassis dominate the palate, which finishes bone-dry smokey. In between is a hearty spectrum of mineral, earth, and seared meat notes. So, even with some bottle age, this wine is still showing its muscular grip and Howell Mountain tannins. Place in a decanter or large Bordeaux glass for 45 to 60 minutes. Hence allowing the earth-driven subtleties to come out in this Left Bank-inspired Bordeaux blend. Plenty of fuel in the tank to tuck away for another five years.

Built on 20 acres of undeveloped land on Howell Mountain, our Bravante Estate Stone Ridge Vineyard was planted in early 1998 by Viticulturist Peter Murphy to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Another small vineyard, just down the road, was acquired in 2000 and planted to the same three varietals, with the addition of small amounts of a Sauvignon Blanc Musque clone, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Winemaker Duane Dappen
Winemaker Duane Dappen has been involved with Bravante since the beginning, celebrating his 20th year with the winery in 2019.
In 1993, Duane moved to Rombauer Vineyards and Frank Family Vineyards where he began as Cellar Master but quickly rose to the Assistant Winemaker position. Because Rombauer also functioned as a custom crush facility, it was a unique opportunity to work with a wide spectrum of varietals, winemaking styles, and a multitude of respected winemakers.
In 1998, he became Head Winemaker at Frank Family Vineyard. Here Duane produced an amazing array of wine brands, including Frank Family still and sparkling wines, and many other different wines from some of the area’s wineries. Duane started winemaking for Bravante Vineyards in 2000 with the first vintage from the Stone Ridge Vineyard.
